JICA is implementing tourism project in Jordan and the West Bank for the purpose of establishing peace through development of tourism and spurring the tourism in this regions. The image of this regions is actually suffered because of the conflicts and insecure incidents make negative influence on tourism in this regions. To this end, the id:rc was contracted to conduct a survey of key stakeholders in the tourism sector in the region to help some issues of tourism be clarified. The study focuses on problems, opportunities, strength and weakness both tour operators and hotels face in order to identify and formulate practical ways and strategies to solve the problems in order to promote regional cooperation in tourism sector.
The id:rc is working on identifying the key sector stakeholders and gather and analyse sector specific statistics. Part of the assessment includes conducting a detailed survey of a sample of 120 Inbound Tour Operator across the region to better identify challenges they face, and identify their needs to overcome such challenges.
